The Design and Build Process
Step One
Yacht Choice
To start the dream of owning the ultimate ocean experience contact us and it will be our pleasure to send you the latest yacht brochures and begin discussions with you the advantages of owning one of our yachts.
Once you have settled on a yacht that matches your lifestyle and budget you have the option of meeting us at our shipyard or one of our experienced sales team will meet with you anywhere in the world in person. The goal of this meeting will be to establish trust in our ability as individuals and as a team, discuss your personal preferences and specifications and the way forward to building you an exceptional yacht. Your preferences and specification will be documented and this design brief will be given to the design team if you choose to take a step forward to an initial design study.
During this initial meeting we are confident you will develop trust and comfort in us as people, as a company, and the quality of yachts we deliver to either move to step two or three. There is an advantage of moving straight to step three as you will secure a build position and we will in parallel start on the detailed design and pricing. In preparation to talking with us you can compile examples of other yachts interiors or home interiors you particularly like. These can be sourced from magazines, the web or photos of other yachts you own or have had the pleasure of enjoying. This information will be very helpful in us accurately interpreting your personal preferences which will speed up the process once we move forward.
Step 2, The journey begins
Design Study
Without committing to a Commitment Agreement and or Sale Agreement we offer a low level contract that will deliver an initial design study for a small cost covering fee. Upon receipt of the design fee and signing of the contract we will commence individualizing your general arrangement, drafting your individual specification and determining from your specification the yachts weight and engine package. This will include meeting with you in person either at our shipyard or at a location that is more convenient to discuss your personal preferences. The design study can be bypassed in favor of speeding up the process and securing a build slot by moving onto step 3, the signing of the Commitment Agreement.
The design study will deliver the following:
- General arrangement in color
- Sample interior rendering. You chose which rooms you would like samples of. (typically the saloon and master suite are chosen)
- Quartering Exterior Rendering
- Color Cross Section Cut Away
- Individual Specification
- Weight and powering specification generated from your specification
- Estimate pricing generated from individual specification.
Step 3
Commitment Agreement. Once this contract is signed and the fee is paid we will reserve a build slot and develop a detailed specification and design with you which will result in a firm Purchase Price for the construction of the yacht. Our designer will meet with you at this point to discuss many of the details of the interior design and exterior layout including but not limited to interior furnishings, fittings and coverings. Once the interior design decisions have been approved we will build an interior mock up of a suite or any room of choice. You can either view the mock up at our shipyard or we can ship it to you anywhere in the world for physical inspection and final approval.
The Commitment Agreement will deliver:
- Detailed specification
- Detailed general arrangement
- Detailed interior design and layout
- Actual interior mock up for approval
- Construction timeline
- Delivery date
- Purchase Price with PC sums
- Scale model optional.
- In the event the build does not proceed we will reimburse the Commitment Fee less actual expenses incurred.
Step 4
Sale Agreement When completely satisfied with the design, specification and price then we will send to your solicitor our Sale Agreement for review. The contract will include but not limited to the already agreed design, specification, performance criteria, sale price, payment schedule, delivery dates, warranties and guarantees. Once the Sale Agreement has been signed and the 20% deposit paid we will start construction.
Step 5
Build Process We will set up a dedicated website which will be used as a communication tool to view, comment and monitor the progress of the build without the hassle of international travel. At all levels of the process we do our utmost to accommodate the wishes and requests of all our clients however once the build agreement has been signed we prefer not to deviate from the contract because this adds cost and pushes out the delivery date which delays your enjoyment. We always welcome site meetings so we can personally walk you through the progress on your yacht and discuss any questions you may have. It will also be our pleasure to organize, many fun and exciting activities for you or your family to enjoy while you are in New Zealand.
Step 6
Launch and Commissioning The yachts launch will be a festive occasion with all the fan fare and due respect a yacht is given on her launch. This festive occasion will be captured on DVD and presented to you on handover.
During commissioning each system will be checked for safety and reliability of operation, at this time your Captain and crew will receive all the necessary training of the ships systems, operations and manuals. The interior will have a final white glove check for any imperfections awaiting your final approval prior to hand over.
Step 7
Handover the keys. This is the day when together with you we celebrates the journey of building your dream and the creation of a truly magnificent yacht. We understand the importance of maintaining contact and providing excellent service to you and the yacht because we believe in supporting our products for life and realize the handover is just the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.
